LESSONS FROM AN ORCHID - by Pastor Susan Fochler

I have several orchids that sit in front of a window in our living room.  While looking at them recently, God started speaking to me about their roots.  You see, they have two kinds of roots, the primary ones that grow down into the pot and provide most of the water and nutrition, and others that grow out horizontally into the air, hence called “air roots”. These air roots are kind of ugly and gnarly, but do provide a small portion of the moisture the plant needs.

We are like those orchids.  As believers, we draw our identity, primarily, from the heart of God as we grow in knowing who we really are as beloved sons or daughters in our union with Him.  But, because we are born into the world’s broken system, surrounded with messages of scarcity and legalism, we use self-effort to grow our own “air roots” into those things we think we need to protect, comfort and justify ourselves independent of the love of God.  These aren’t necessarily bad things, like our possessions, jobs, ministries, giftings, etc., they just were never designed to be the primary source of our identity.  We seek them because we have a hard time believing God can really love us as completely and unconditionally as He says He does, without us doing a thing to prove our worth.

It has been an ongoing journey for me to learn to love and accept myself.  At times I can feel a pressure to prove something to somebody, somewhere, and, of course, that something is never enough, because I would be trying to prove it to a false system.  The truth is, all I need do is accept the “endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding” and that “pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!”  (Eph 3:17, 20 TPT.)  What would it look like if we really believed this was true!

How do we come to know this love?  By allowing His compassion to touch every hurting place, and being curious to understand why we react in ways that aren’t consistent with who we really are.  Instead of choosing to reject and condemn ourselves, we start accepting that we are His choice, and that we are worth loving.  And that we can continue to let go of all those self-created attachments we have made with the world that produce a false sense of self.   As we do so, we are the Prodigal son walking into the outstretched arms of a loving Father, recognizing there is nothing we need do to cause Him to love us more than He does at this moment.  And knowing and accepting that is exactly what heals our heart.

May we all come to know we are holy and without blame before Him in love.
Eph 1:4 NKJV.

With love;
Susan

COLORS - by Todd Benjamin Lout

You know how you get a random, (or seemingly random), song stuck in your head? Maybe sometimes it's really worth paying attention to the lyrics. Maybe Holy Spirit put that song in your head for the day.

Usually that song stuck in our head stays there with just you....but today I'm sending an email to all of ya'll so HEY, I'll share with you what's in my head / heart. Perhaps this one is for all of us right now. The song is "Stained Glass" by Keith Green, an oldie but definitely some great lyrics for us. They also go quite well with our theme at Blazing Fire as of late.

Here's the lyrics below. Let them minister to you.

We are like windowsStained with colors of the rainbowSet in a darkened roomTill the bridegroom comes to shining through

Then the colors fall around our feetOver those we meetCovering all the gray that we seeRainbow colors of assorted huesCome exchange your bluesFor His love that you see shining through me

We are His daughters and sonsWe are the colorful onesWe are the kids of the KingRejoice in everything

My colors grow so dimWhen I start to fall away from HimBut up comes the strongest windThat he sends to blow me back into his arms again

And then the colors fall around my feetOver those I meetChanging all the gray that I seeRainbow colors of the Risen SonReflect the OneThe One who came to set us all free

We are His daughters and sonsWe are the colorful onesWe are the kids of the KingRejoice in everything

We are like windowsStained with colors of the rainbowNo longer set in a darkened roomCause the bridegroom wants to shine from you

This reminds of of the portion of the book, "The Shack", when the main Character, Mac, was taken into the spirit realm. He could see when people would see each other and have fellowship, there were pretty colors moving from each person and swirling around and mingling when two people met up with each other. Some would call that an "orah".  It's the colorful light that God sees when He looks at us.

EMRACING FAITH: TRUSTING IN THE UNWAVERING FAITHFULNESS OF GOD - by Len DiGiovanni

Last Saturday, Len and Sue DiGiovanni shared an amazing testimony during Blazing Fire’s worship service of how Jesus restored their marriage after they had been divorced for four years. This miracle that began with two revived hearts brought transformation to their entire family and continues to bear much fruit as this couple walks alongside countless others to discover for themselves the transformation only Jesus can bring when they choose obedience to him. This is a beautiful example of how personal revival–a heart brought back to life–spreads to impact the lives of so many others who can then experience their own revival.
Here Len shares with us how to experience more of that life…

Faith, as described in the Bible, is the foundation of a believer's relationship with God. It is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). This faith is not a passive belief but an active trust in God and His promises. Throughout the scriptures, faith is exemplified by figures like Abraham, who believed God’s promise that he would be the father of many nations despite his and Sarah's old age (Genesis 15:6). Faith involves stepping out in trust, often without seeing the immediate outcome, confident that God is in control.

The faithfulness of God is a central theme in the Bible, underscoring His unwavering reliability and steadfast Love. God's faithfulness is illustrated in His covenant with Israel, His promises to David, and ultimately, in the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Scriptures like Lamentations 3:22-23 affirm that God's mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness is great. This divine faithfulness provides believers in God with a solid foundation, reassuring them that God will never forsake or abandon us (Deuteronomy 31:6). His faithfulness is a rock in the midst of our life's uncertainties, providing unexplained peace, comfort, and hope as only Christ can give.

In the believer's life, faith and the faithfulness of God are deeply intertwined [Hebrews 10:23, Psalm 37:3-5, 2 Timothy 2:13. Lamentations 3: 22-23]. Our faith grows as we experience God's faithfulness in our lives [Romans 5:3-4, James 1:2-4, Psalm 40:1-3, 2 Corinthians 1:10, Philippians 1:6. Psalm 34:4-5], seeing His promises fulfilled and His presence in our struggles and triumphs [Joshua 1:7-8, Romans 8:28, Isaiah 41:10, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, 1 Kings 8:56].

This dynamic relationship calls believers to live out their faith actively, by being obedient to His Will, trusting God’s timing and His plans, and allowing Him to be responsible for the results. As we witness God’s steadfast love and faithfulness, our trust in Him deepens, enabling us to face challenges with confidence. Thus, faith and the faithfulness of God create a cycle of trust and reassurance, empowering believers to live fully in His grace.

As we reflect on the power of faith and the unwavering faithfulness of God , I urge you to deepen your trust in Him. Embrace the challenges and uncertainties of life with confidence, knowing that God’s promises are true, and His love is steadfast. Step out in faith today -- in your personal, professional, and spiritual journey—and experience the transformative power of trusting in a faithful God. Commit to seeking Him daily, relying on His guidance, and witnessing His faithfulness in every aspect of your life.

REVIVAL BEGINS WITH YOU - by Brent Lokker

Three Ways God is Bringing
Your Heart Back to Life

Are you sensing there has to be more to life--more than simply going through the motions and trying to make it, yet still feeling a little lost and dead inside? Revival can be a buzz word to mean a general mass move of God’s Spirit in a region, but I propose genuine revival—fresh life re-birthed in us—happens one heart at a time as God puts a longing in each heart to know and encounter his loving nature as well as to be certain of our identity and origin in him. Then he fulfills that longing as a gift of his Spirit through our "Yes!"

Below is this week's VIBRANT LIFE video from Pastor Brent on this very subject,
followed by some scriptures used in his teaching. ENJOY!!
Scriptures:

“It’s by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

“In love he chose us before he laid the foundation of the universe!  Because of his great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with an unstained innocence. For it was always in his perfect plan to adopt us as his delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that his tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify his grace for the same love he has for the Beloved, Jesus, he has for us. And this unfolding plan brings him great pleasure!
Ephesians 1:4-6 (TPT)

“My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one!  My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, dispensing his life into mine!”
Galatians 2:20 (TPT)

“As a result of this, he has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises we can experience partnership with the divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world.”
2 Peter 1:4 (TPT)

“Jesus then looked everyone in the eye and said to them, ‘Joining me in close companionship in your daily walk, involves perceiving my mission as fully representing you. Get over and done with any idea of "self" that contradicts your true I-am-ness! Here is how you do it: lift up your cross once and for all, by seeing it mirrored in mine! My cross is your cross! Trying to keep the "self" of your own making intact is a lost cause to begin with. "Losing" yourself in me, is realizing that I am the source of who you are by design! This is your saving grace!’”
Luke 9:23-24 (Mirror)

RESTING IN THE PROMISE OF HIS LOVE - by Joel Pollard

I am forever grateful for all of the promises in God’s Word, especially Psalm 23. Verse 2 in the The Passion Translation reads like this: “He offers a resting place for me in luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss.” The Greek word here for the love of God is ‘agape’ from the word, ago, meaning to lead like a shepherd guides his sheep and ‘pao’, meaning to rest, i.e. “he leads me besides still waters.” It is by the waters of reflection that our souls remember who we are. God’s rest is established upon his image and likeness which is redeemed in us, thus to encounter agape is to remember who we are.

Down in verse 5, ‘he prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies’. I believe in this season that the Holy Spirit is showing us where he has prepared a table in so many seasons of our lives when we have felt surrounded on all sides. He is redeeming the time and restoring wholeness to those moments, showing the victory that we had in the midst of countless circumstances and the victory we continue to have in Jesus from our union with him.

Regardless of how things seem, feel or appear, I want to encourage us to keep moving forward on the journey of letting our hearts lead us to the place that keeps setting us free and restoring us back to our inherent identity—the image and likeness of God, which is Love Himself.

I want to leave you with this powerful promise that the Apostle Paul encourages, exhorts and proclaims in Ephesians 3:18-19 TPT: “Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!”

With Love,

Joel
